Response to claims of ‘bias’ in genocide research

I have coauthored the following article:

Goldberg, Amos; Kehoe, Thomas J.; Moses, A. Dirk; Segal, Raz; Shaw, Martin; and Wolf, Gerhard (2016) “Israel Charny’s Attack on the Journal of Genocide Research and its Authors: A Response,” Genocide Studies and Prevention: An International Journal: Vol. 10: Iss. 2: 3-22. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5038/1911-9933.10.2.1436. Available at: http://scholarcommons.usf.edu/gsp/vol10/iss2/4. View article here

Abstract: Israel Charny has published an article, “Holocaust Minimization, Anti-Israel Themes, and Antisemitism: Bias at the Journal of Genocide Research” (JGR) in the Journal for the Study of Antisemitism. His specific allegations are bundled together in a single sentence: “minimization of the Holocaust, delegitimization of the State of Israel, and repeat[ing] common themes of contemporary antisemitism”. We write as the authors of articles and contributors to the JGR attacked by Charny. His allegations are false and we reject them. This article shows how they are based on distortions, misquotations, and falsifications of our work.

  1. Reblogged this on Santa's laboratory and commented:
Shameless attack on “Journal of Genocide Research” and its contributors Martin Shaw and others by Israel Charny, is rejected by authors and dissected in the following response article to uncover shameless “distortions, misquotations, and falsifications” of their work.
It would be even better if we could uncover and discuss true reasons and motives for such blunt attacks and reflexive accusations of Antisemitism and anti-Israel bias thrown around at anyone who may in any way be critical of Israel or just indirectly or accidentally open space for such criticism.
JGR, Shaw & others only “crime”, as Israel Charny sees it, is that they are engaging in research of genocide perpetrated against various other group of people and that in doing so they are minimizing crimes against Jewish people during Holocaust, and by doing that they are delegitimizing state of Israel and its policies:
